  1. What are you up to?

我們都會(huì)說(shuō)"What are you doing?"。"What are you up to?" 有時(shí)候老美見面時(shí)也會(huì)問(wèn) "What are you up to?",意思就是問(wèn)“你最近在做什么啊?”跟另一句問(wèn)候語(yǔ) "What"s up?" 有時(shí)候 "What are you up to?" 指的雖然還是 "What are you doing?",但它卻是"你在搞什么鬼啊?" Hey, what are you up to?",也就是罵他"你在搞什么鬼啊?"。

"What are you up to?" What are you up to?"。

  2. In the middle of something?

很多人都會(huì)說(shuō)"Are you busy?"。其實(shí)老美也常用 "In the middle of something?"。但這句話比較接近于 "Are you busy right now?",是問(wèn)人家"現(xiàn)在"是不是正在忙。"Are you busy?"

  3. Shelly just called in sick.

你可以說(shuō) "I need two days" sick leave.(我需要請(qǐng)兩天病假。)" 如果是因?yàn)槔掀乓置淞?,想要?qǐng)事假 (personal leave),你可以說(shuō), "I"m asking for a three-day paid/unpaid personal leave for my wife"s labor.(因?yàn)槲依掀乓?,我想要?qǐng)三天假。)

  4. I just heard that seven people are going to be laid off next month.

例如:"IBM issues a profit warning, plans layoffs. 例如上一句我們也可以說(shuō) "IBM plans to cut/slash jobs.

  5. I am only a regular 9-to-5er.
